The FSU Claude Pepper Center, Museum & Library - Established by Senator Claude Pepper & Operated by the Pepper Foundation, Based upon the goals and principles in which Claude & his Wife Mildred lived their lives. "Senator Pepper knew the educational potential and historical significance of his vast collection of papers, images, recordings, and memorabilia. Within the facility you will find Personal letters from Winston Churchill, Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and John F. Kennedy are among the treasures to be found here. The photographs include many individuals of historical significance, such as Pope Paul VI, Albert Einstein, and Martin Luther King, Jr. There are also recordings of such political notables as Lyndon Johnson, Tip ONeill, and Hubert Humphrey." These items and a great deal of information on Senator Pepper's political career and the causes he was committed to including The Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy which is a very notable achievement with benefits enriching the lives of so many today in the area of Social Sciences. This location has also been used as a movie set location for the motion pictures Airport 77 starring Jack Lemmon, The first Tarzan movie featuring Olympic champion swimmer Johnny Weissmuller & The Jungle Scenes for the "Creature From The Black Lagoon" This park is located just 14 miles south of Tallahassee on S.R. 267 at S.R. 61. If you are interested in seeing this as I was. There is a section of the Florida Senate Site which addresses seeing the capital for kids. This is probably the most informative section I have found. Florida Caverns State Park - (Jackson County, About 70 Miles West Of Tallahassee) The main attraction is an underground cavern tour that we feel is a great outing. The web site does not really show to much of the tour. They have a photo gallery but it does not show you too much of the insides of the caverns. Skate Inn - This Local Skating Rink is only about 5 Minutes from FSU and only about a minute away from TCC. This is Tallahassee's Original Family Fun Skating Rink. This writer went in here with friends on a Saturday Night and we had a blast. I have not had this much fun since I was in middle school. Their prices are great and the people are very friendly and helpful. On Saturday night they play a lot of 80s & 90s stuff that I remembered in School. This offer both a long paved trail and a challenging off road trail. I love to bike out here. The paved trail begins on the Southside of Tallahassee and runs down to St. Marks by the water. A very nice ride. The off road coarse is 7.5 miles long with a 4.5 mile shortcut option and carries you pretty deep in the woods. Recommend to ride it with friends for safety.
